Atlanta Kitchen Cabinets: Installation Guide for Georgia Homeowners

Atlanta Kitchen Cabinets: What Nobody Tells You Before You Order

The cabinet selection process gets a lot of attention. The install gets almost none — until something goes wrong.

You'll spend weeks (maybe months) picking cabinet styles, finishes, hardware, layout. You'll have opinions about face frame vs. frameless, inset vs. overlay, soft-close vs. standard. That's all reasonable. But at some point, those cabinets have to go on the wall. And how they go on the wall — leveled correctly, anchored properly, finished with the kind of care that makes the whole thing look intentional — is what separates a kitchen renovation you're proud of from one you're still explaining apologies for five years later.

LMO Kitchens LLC installs kitchen cabinets across Atlanta and metro Georgia. Here's what we actually know about how this goes.

Atlanta Kitchen Remodels: The Real Variables

Atlanta homes don't all behave the same way — which is obvious when you say it out loud, but it surprises people anyway when they're mid-project.

The Intown bungalow that's been through four owners and two kitchen remodels? The walls might be off-plumb, the floors have definitely moved, and there's a decent chance somebody put the electrical panel in the one corner where the tall cabinet was supposed to go. The newer production home in Alpharetta or Duluth? More predictable — but "production builder" tolerances aren't the same as "custom renovation" tolerances, and the gap consistency you're expecting from your $20,000 cabinet order doesn't come automatically just because the studs were straight.

And then there's the Georgia humidity factor. Seasonal wood movement is real here. It's one of the reasons proper shimming, correct hardware specification, and attention to door gap consistency matter so much — not just for how the kitchen looks on day one, but for how it functions in July versus January.

The Installation Process: What We Actually Do

Before we touch a cabinet, we confirm everything's on-site and accounted for. Sounds obvious. Saves countless headaches. Damaged panels, missing filler pieces, wrong-size crown molding — these things get discovered either on install day or before install day, and one of those options is much better than the other.

Install day sequence: base cabinets first, full stop. We laser-level the run before anything gets fastened — this is the step that determines whether every door and drawer in the kitchen works correctly for the next twenty years, and it's also the step that some crews rush because it's not visible. Wall cabinets go into studs. We've said this before and we'll keep saying it: not drywall anchors, studs. Then hardware and doors — adjusted, not just installed. Crown molding, fillers, and any custom scribe work last, because that's the finish layer that makes a kitchen look like it belongs there.

That's not a revolutionary process. It's just the right one, done with care.

What We Handle for Atlanta Kitchen Projects

Full kitchen cabinet installation — new builds, full remodels, targeted replacements. Island installation. Pantry and tall cabinet work. Crown molding. Countertop replacement. Bathroom cabinet and vanity installation for the same project. Kitchen design support if you're still figuring out your layout. Cabinet repair when a replacement isn't the right call.

We work with any cabinet manufacturer — custom, semi-custom, flat-pack, whatever you've sourced. You pick the cabinets. We install them correctly.

Questions We Field From Atlanta Homeowners

Q: What does kitchen cabinet installation cost in Atlanta? A: The honest answer is: it depends on scope, and anybody who quotes you a flat number without knowing your kitchen is guessing. Linear footage, configuration complexity, island work, detail molding — these all move the number. We quote after we understand the project.

Q: Should I buy cabinets from the installer or find my own? A: Find your own if it makes sense for your budget and preferences — you're not locked in with us. The advantage of sourcing independently is that you can shop the full market for the product that fits your project. We install whatever you bring us.

Q: When should countertop templating happen relative to the cabinet install? A: After base cabinets are fully secured and level — not before. We coordinate with countertop fabricators directly if needed, and we time the install with the template visit in mind. This is a sequencing thing that matters more than most homeowners realize going in.
